BowlRoll is a Japanese file hosting site catering to the VOCALOID, UTAU and MMD communities. The site is known for its strict adherence to rules.
History[]
The site is a successor to the well-known Bytatsu uploader. Some files from Bytatsu were trasferred to BowlRoll after the original uploader went offline. This site became the main distribution channel to many Japanese modellers after the demise of Loda.jp.
From 2013, base edits are no longer allowed on BowlRoll as a well-known MMDer has uploaded nude TDA bases on the service. Bytatsu garnered some controversy in this issue by calling said editor out publicly on DeviantArt.

User accounts can be created by connecting a Facebook, Twitter or GitHub account to the service. In the past, files could be uploaded without an account.
There are five categories on the site: MMD, UTAU, other 3D, Software and other.
BowlRoll allows users to distribute files privately, restrict files to the BowlRoll community and set time limits on their files. Additionally, the site features a Mature tag for sexual and/or violent content.
